UNIQUE PERSONALIZED
CUSTOM WRITTEN WEDDING CEREMONIES
Traditional and
Non-Traditional, Including Non-Religious - Interfaith - Intercultural -
Civil - Reaffirmation of Vows
Rev. Bonnie Nixon is known as a minister
with warmth, and professionalism, and a willingness to do whatever it takes
to make your ceremony reflect your spiritual and religious needs. Rev.
Bonnie also respects the fact that you may want a civil or non-religious
wedding, with no mention of any religion. This attitude continues to result
in exquisite and memorable ceremonies for brides and grooms each year.

Reverend Nixon's
Services
You should have no surprises at your
wedding ceremony. You should know and approve of what is going to be said.
Your ceremony is about you, the bride and groom, not about the minister. I
am committed to working with you to create a ceremony that will mirror
exactly what you want. At our initial meeting we will go over my
"Words for Your Wedding". This booklet explains all the parts of
a standard ceremony. You will be able to put your own ceremony together
from the various choices you are give, up to fifteen for each segment, i.e.
Vows, Ring Exchange, etc. You ceremony can be "spiritual" without
being religious.

Childrens'
Vows / Rose Ceremony
In today’s
world, we have many couples getting married who are already parents. I have
ceremonies/vows to accommodate the "Blended Family" - my
childrens’ vows include any children of the bride and groom in the ceremony.
I also have words for the Rose Ceremony which gives the bride and groom an
opportunity to honor their new mother-in law.
There is no charge for the get acquainted meeting. If you decide at that
time to have me perform your ceremony, a deposit is required to hold the
date and time open for you. I will leave it up to you to choose the wording
for your ceremony from my material and/or yours. I will also include
personal touches regarding you as a couple if you desire. I will have the
ceremony ready for your review at the rehearsal, if there is one.

Locations
I have
officiated at weddings on boats, ships, in hotels, banquet halls, churches,
parks, the beach, the ocean cliffs, chapels -- all over So. California. (Torrance, Palos Verdes, Long Beach,
Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Beverly Hills, El Segundo,
etc.) We are entering a new age of wedding locations - more and more brides
and grooms are choosing to be married at locations that would have
surprised our grandmothers and grandfathers. I try very hard to be
up-to-the-minute in my views and ceremonies, and would be pleased to
perform your ceremony in So. California, throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Although I do many “instant weddings”,
I am always happy to be a part of a large, planned, traditional wedding.
Both types of weddings touch my heart and soul and I can’t really say which
one I prefer more. Your wedding will bring joy to my being not matter what
location.

Marriage
Licenses
Confidential License/Standard License
I am authorized to issue the Confidential Marriage License for
Los
Angeles County as a Notary Public. This makes it very
convenient for my couples as they do not have to stand in line at the County Recorder’s Office. However, I also issue
licenses to couples I am not marrying. Please call my office for details on
this process.
In California we have two types of Licenses the
Confidential and the Standard. The Confidential was originally started for
couples who had been living together and wanted to avoid the dreaded blood
test. So starting in 1969 many couples avoided the test by taking out a
Confidential License. In 1970 California began to allow Notaries Public to issue
the Confidential Licenses as a convenience to the public. You could still
get the other license (with the blood test) if you went to a County office.
However, in 1995 California did away with the Blood Test and now
you have the option to buy either license. The advantage now of the
Confidential license is that it is a “Sealed” document and only the bride
and groom can get a copy of it from the County Recorder. In this day of identity theft, many
couples opt for the Confidential License.
A disadvantage is that it must be used in the County in which it was issued
- this does not mean you are married only in that County, but that you must
have a ceremony in that County. But, Los Angeles is a very large County and this usually
isn’t a problem for my couples. So it is up to you to decide which license
best suits your needs - both types are available at a County Office - you are just as married with either
type of license. Of course if I am marrying you in Orange or any other County (except LA), you
will have to obtain your own license.
After you fill out the application, you should then call for an appointment
to meet with me for issuance. This must be done in person. With the long
lines and wait at the Recorders' Offices, you might find it more convenient
to spend 15 minutes with me to obtain your marriage license. And remember,
I issue licenses on Saturdays and evenings by appointment. If you're flying
in for a wedding at the last moment, this could be a necessity.
Please note that minors -- 17 years of age or younger, must obtain their
license from the County Recorder's office.

"OUT OF STATE
COUPLES"
This is a special section for out of
state and out of the country couples. Perhaps you are coming to California to get married, and you don't have time to go to
a County Office and obtain your license. No problem - I issue licenses 7 days a
week, by appointment - evenings also. It is a very easy to be married in California - many couples are married in my Chapel, or the
beach or the cliffs while here on vacation. Just give me a call - and we
can arrange a wedding at our Chapel, or perhaps a wedding at a nearby hotel
or restaurant for you. Redondo Beach or the Gazebo at Malaga Cove in Palos Verdes are
beautiful places to get married. See Pictures in the Selected Photos
section. Also see www.sunsetbride.com
for more pictures of the Cliffs of Palos Verdes or the Gazebo.
We can also arrange a beautiful wedding bouquet for the bride from a local
florist. These weddings can be inexpensive - but beautiful -- just call the
office for details. And remember -- it's much easier to get married in California than you can imagine. Just as easy as Las Vegas, and a lot closer for some. I perform many
"Instant Weddings" every week -- no blood tests - you just need a
driver's license or state issued I.D. card -- or passport - (see my
requirements page) no US citizenship or state residency is required to
obtain a marriage license in California.
That's it - I will issue the license and then perform the ceremony in about
1/2 hour - her fee also includes one (1) certified copy that you receive
from the LA County Recorder's office in about 6-8 weeks -- more quickly (1-2
weeks) if you pay extra for Express Mail Service.

"OTHER
INFORMATION"
I was ordained in 1996, and have
performed hundreds of ceremonies. I am affiliated with the Seaside Community Church, a United Church of Christ, in Torrance, CA. My husband and I are the wedding ministers for
Carnival Cruises, Princess Cruises, Norwegian Cruises and Royal Caribbean
Cruise Lines in San Pedro, and Long Beach, CA -- we issue marriage licenses for them also. So
if you are getting married on a Cruise leaving out of San Pedro or Long Beach , your wedding most probably would be performed
by myself or Rev. David. Rev. David Nixon has been a pastor for over 25
years and is at your service also.
My associate Rev. Leticia Lopez will
perform ceremonies in all Spanish or Bilingual if you prefer.
I am very familiar with Cultural requests
for weddings, such as the Lasso / Veil Ceremonies and the Coin
Ceremony.
